A New Needlepoint Store Owner

The store isn’t new but I am!

I have been needlepointing since I was 13 years old! Trust me thats a LONG time. I am a nurse consultant and so retail is a little different for me. A few months ago I decided that this store would be the perfect outlet for my creative side. I worked in department stores as a new graduate from college and once again, thats a long time ago! I have decided that wiith the pandemic I really want to do something I love! I am too old to go back to bedside nursing so, my second passion besides curling is….needlepoint.

I grew up stitching with Paternayan 3 ply persian wool fiber in the suburbs of Chicago. Chicago has a wide variety of needlepoint shops. I used to love to go in the town’s needlepoint store and look at all the beautiful fiber. Paternayan wool is a strong, colorfast and resiliant fiber with a bunch of colors! I believe that they had over 300 colors!! WOW! Now we are not carrying this fiber but we do have wool yarns. A wool yarn is a nice sturdy fiber for any project.

If you have never tried a particular fiber I recommend that you stitch a one inch square with it. You will decide quickly if it is what you are looking for! Be sure to buy enough of a dye lot to finish your piece. I have burned by this in the past. Don’t make my mistake buy enough fiber!

We will be having a fiber tasting this winter so you can try out some of the new fibers. Date will be announced shortly.
